Hello World

This week is the 115th annual Rossland Winter Carnival, the longest running winter carnival in Canada. Friday there was a parade through the main street of town, with 30 decendents of Olaus Jeldness from Norway, and there were also many Olaus look-a-likes in the parade gunning to get the prize for the best costume. I was fortunate enough to see that, as well as go and see the Ski Bum musical, which I highly reccomend anyone within BC to go see in a ski-town near you. Today Its SNOWING!!! looking like we may get 10cm of fresh stuff. We also have 6 open seats for an advanced Cat, on a standby rate, so $299. So call now before the spots run out.

ITS SNOWING!!!!

It has snowed everyday so far since Tuesday!!! This snow has really helped cover over all the tracks. Been out twice this week, and all I can say for each day is that it was AMAZING!! We've been working on getting the Contour Cams ready, and will have a short little promo video to show soon probably within the next week. We also just got in the 2013 Rossignol S7's and 2013 Rossignol Super 7's. Thats all for now, thought I would let everyone know the great weather we're having and the updates in the office.

The new blogman Andrew the Intern

Hello all skiers and snowboarders, I am Andrew the "Intern" from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I am going to be taking over the blog for the next couple of months, keeping everyone updated with the buzz around BRC, and how things are going with my internship. I will be out some days skiing with BRC, so I will post my photos and videos taken from the days out to show the sweet conditions we have.

KEEP POSTED for all the exciting news

Free Cat Skiing Winner

Every year we do a random draw from the names on our newsletter list, and give away a free day of cat skiing.  Sometimes it's someone we meet at a ski show, sometimes it's a previous customer, and sometimes it's someone who has signed up online.  As long as you continue to receive our newsletter, you'll be in the draw every year.

This year, our winner is.....TIM ROEPKE!!  Tim is a previous customer and a really nice guy.  He didn't think he'd be able to make it up this year, but now he's going to make some travel plans work out.  If he isn't able to make it work, we'll announce another winner.

We've also donated cat skiing to several ski racing clubs, to support the ski racing community - so check out the fundraising events for the Red Mountain Racers, Big White Racers, and Phoenix Mountain Racers.

Update 5 Dec 2011

The guides have started to help us get organized for the season - Seb is testing all of the new transceivers, Kauri has mounted bindings on all the new Rossignol, Salomon, and Blizzard skis, Julian (conveniently, also an electrician), has our new generator all wired up at the shed, and Carey and Tyson arrived bearing a truckload of bamboo poles for road-building season.

Kieren and I went up for a bit of a ski tour to check out the area, and it was great to get out, but we will need a bit more snow to give some more options for skiing down.  The snow was about a metre deep, and quite consolidated, without a lot of ski penetration.  Great for covering up buried logs and other hazards, but it'll be better skiing when there's a nice layer of light soft snow on top of it.  All good though, since we don't have scheduled cat skiing trips until after Christmas.  (We'll be sure to show you when it comes!)  The video below shows what it's like up there at the moment:
