Ari Gore

Ari first came out west from Toronto, Ontario at the age of 19, for a year off between high school and University to live his dreams of skiing deep powder in the big mountains of BC. Today he is still enjoying that same year off, and has spent over 1/2 his life living his dreams while attending the prestigious U of Ski, majoring in Deep Pow Studies - Where Is It?, Routefinding 101 - How Do I Get To It?, First Aid for the Un-Coordinated & Crevasse Rescue for the Un-Lucky.  From his tender beginnings trying to keep up with the Fernie locals on straight 210cm K2s, he has honed his powder skills through nearly 20 years of practice at Red Mountain as recreational skier and as a Volunteer Ski Patroller, and with Big Red Cats since 2006 as a tail guide, occasional snowcat driver and odd-job man, and now, lead guide, after completing his CAA2 and CSGA 2 courses in 2012. 

Ari loves his work at BRC, and is the merry all-rounder of the bunch, as comfortable guiding a group as he is driving a cat or snowmobile, shuttling guests in the BRC busses or helping Paula out at the front end of the operation.  According to Paula, Ari's greatest asset is that he is "detail oriented", so he definitely won't leave your skis in the bus on a powder day!  According to Kieren, Ari's greatest failing is that he "needs to work on his jokes", because he has none up his sleeve, but he's a fan of situational humor - and will poke fun at himself or others with an infectious smile at every opportunity.  His favorite run at Big Red Cats  is somewhere between official lines from the summit of Neptune Peak on his tried and true Volkl Gotama's.

When he's not pointing out the best powder lines for you at Big Red Cats, Ari is hard at work realising the other dream in his life.  He and his wife Shari and their super dog Tyra are developing their home and business up the sparsely populated Lower Arrow Lakes in Renata, BC.  There they are pouring their hearts and souls into 7.5 acres of pure heaven and developing an off the grid eco-lodge and retreat from the hectic world we all live in - a place where you can Simply kick back and relax while they keep the fabulous food and great experiences coming!  Ari and Shari's "Simply Delicious Lodge" will inspire and rejuvenate you.
