Availability
We recommend that you check our availability calendar in order to select the appropriate day or group.  It shows which seats are booked, and what ability level each tour is targeting.  We can run up to 3 cats a day.  Cat-assisted ski touring can be arranged on most days, and avalanche training can be arranged on most weekends (4 pers min)  as well.

Insurance:
We strongly recommend that all our guests and clients have in place their own travel and medical insurance, including trip cancellation and evacuation.  If you don't have your own, contact Sanderson Travel Insurance.  Click here for more info on medical evacuation and its associated costs. Your Visa card may include trip cancellation insurance, check with your provider.

Booking Policy:

30% non-refundable deposit is payable at time of booking, and your booking is not confirmed until we have received the deposit.  The remainder will be charged to your credit card 90 days before your trip, or you may pay by cheque.  After Dec 1st of each season, all new bookings are payable in full at time of booking.

Refunds & Re-Booking

There are NO REFUNDS, for any reason.  If more than 30 days before arrival, you may cancel your reservation and your payment will remain on your account for 18 months.  If we recommend that you come another day due to poor conditions, or we need to cancel because of mechanical issues, it is rare and unfortunate, but there are still no refunds.  A dollar-value credit will remain on your account, which is transferable, and can be used as cash in order to re-book cat skiing, (high season, low season, or standby), or lodging at the Red Shutter Inn.  If you decide to cancel your your own reasons within 30 days of arrival, there is no credit - we recommend booking with a visa card that includes trip cancellation insurance, or purchasing insurance.  If you receive a credit, it is for the dollars spent, is transferable but not refundable, and may be used for Big Red Cats and Red Shutter Inn services, at whatever rate the service is at the time of re-booking.  After 18 months, the credit expires and has no dollar value.  If you find this policy uncomfortable, please consider purchasing trip cancellation insurance, which will cover you for these risks.  If we had a more lenient refund policy, we would have to charge more for the cat skiing, and most of our customers prefer the lower rate.

Rain/mechanical: There are no refunds for bad weather.  In some cases, if it is unsafe to operate, or if your entire group requests it due to marginal conditions, we may offer you the opportunity to cancel your day and keep your payments on your account for re-booking sometime in the next 18 months.  If we have a mechanical failure, a credit will go onto your account for future use - if  you have skied fewer than 6 runs, you will receive a partial credit on your account.  If this policy makes you uncomfortable, trip cancellation insurance is available through www.sandersontravelinsurance.com.

Vertical:

On most days, intermediate groups will get 6-8 runs, advanced will ski 8-12 runs, and experts 10-16 runs.  There is no daily maximum, so you'll get more runs in in March than in January because the days are longer.  There is a vertical guarantee of at least 6 runs, unless there is an injury or a group member disregards instructions and gets lost.  A partial credit for future cat skiing will go on your account, based on the number of runs missed.  (ie, if you only did 4 runs, you might get a credit on your BRC account of $130 to apply towards a future visit).

Other:

Please be aware that if you overestimate your own ski ability and place yourself in a group that continually has to wait for you, your guide may have to ask you to sit out on some runs, so that the rest of the group can enjoy their day.  If this happens, there are no refunds for your missed runs, and we would recommend that you choose an easier level next time around (in some cases we may give a partial credit for a re-booking).  If you feel that you may be slowing down the group, you may ask the guide whether it would be best for you to sit out for a run so that he can take the group on a challenging run.  The guide may respond that you really aren't a problem at all, or he may be very grateful that he didn't have to broach the subject himself.

Finally, though this happens rarely, if you disregard any of the guides' instructions or are found to be using drugs or alcohol on the day, you may be "benched" -asked to sit in the snowcat for the remainder of the day and may not be permitted to continue skiing or riding.  In these situations, you will not receive any refund or future credit. Your safety, the safety of the other members of your group and of our guides are affected if one group member disregards the guides' instructions, and the guides take safety very seriously.
