Big Red Cats is located just minutes from the base of Red Resort (Red Mountain) BC – so you can create an incredible ski holiday by combining Big Red Cats and Red Resort. Red is known for and is consistently rated as having the world's best lift-accessed tree-skiing – and it also has some of the best and most uncrowded groomed runs on the planet. Also within an hour's drive are the Whitewater ski area - also known for its abundant powder - and the city of Nelson.
Rossland and Big Red Cats are a 2.5 hour drive directly north of Spokane, Washington (Take 395 north to Colville, then turn right on Williams Lake Rd about 1.5 miles after the left bend at Colville, then turn right at the end and head for Northport and the Frontier border crossing).
From Seattle, take the I-90 to the Sprague turnoff, then head north through Harrington and Davenport, and follow hwy 25 along the Columbia River through Kettle Falls and Northport, to the Frontier border crossing. The driving is all easy until you hit the border and start climbing into the mountains.
From the border crossing, drive north to Rossland. At the Race Trac Gas/Seven Summits Service station, stay on the main road, the left fork (you will pass the town of Rossland on your right). Drive about another 3 minutes up the highway, pass the Rock Cut Pub, and then turn left at the overhead flashing yellow light into Red. Red Mountain Road snakes around for about a block, and the Red Shutter Inn, our lodge and morning meeting point, is just before the main car park.
