March 2008

It's snowing like crazy, and temps are forecast to stay cool for our last week, 22-27 March.  Book now for the standby rate ($299) and get some great fresh tracks in the trees.  22 Mar - advanced, 23-27 Mar - expert seats available.

Several large groups have already booked for next season - if you do think you'll want to bring a large group, it is best to get it arranged well in advance to ensure your choice of cat skiing dates and the best accommodation.  The last week of January is nearly already full.  I'll load next season's calendar onto the site on the last day of this season.

Don't forget that if you book next year's trip during this season, you can lock in this year's rates and specials - including the "Ladies with a partner Half Price in the first half of January" special, which was very popular.  (Get your Christmas shopping out of the way REALLY early, and at least you'll get something YOU want!)

Spring Standby Special
24 Feb:  Got an unexpected 10cm of fresh snow, so we're good to go!
Have a group ready to go?  Keep an eye on conditions, and get ready to pick up some standbys when the snow comes.  Try the "March Full Cat Standby Special" - book 12 people on a day when we have a cat free, within 3 days of departure, and get 20% off the $299 standby rate - that's just $2870 for the full cat, or about $239 each, space available and conditions permitting.  It just doesn't get better than that! (not combinable with other offers)

February starting strong
mo_boosting_small.jpgFebruary seems to be starting strong, with lots of small dumps of snow happening one after the other, and topping up the tenure area with plenty of fresh tracks.  The new guides and drivers seem to know their way around now, and it's great to have some of the old ones back (Mo Rasiah pictured on left).  Our bookings have never looked stronger, so if you're thinking about coming before 10 Mar, check out the calendar quickly, as there are fewer and fewer seats available.

5 Jan Avalanche

Yes, it is true that there was an avalanche at BRC on 5 January, as the following newspaper article in the Trail Times reports.  Fortunately, we had an excellent group of guests who listened to instructions, and very qualified staff out that day, as well as, admittedly, some luck on our side.  Avalanche conditions are assessed constantly by our guides and safety team, but sometimes incidents still occur when skiing in the backcountry.  We are stil avoiding steep, open bowls due to avalanche hazard, and recommend helmets, as we are skiing in the glades and trees.  The stability has on that layer has improved significantly in the last month, but other weaknesses have developed which we are watching carefully.  Don't be surprised if you have to ski some runs "one at a time" or not at all for most of this season.
